| July 2011 Ditzy looked across the park between the museum and the coliseum. She had never seen the park so filled with people, and not just any people, but these people wore maroon and yellow, the team colors of the University of Spoiled Children. Totally rude, but if Ditzy’s grandmother were at the park, that’s what she would call them. She looked across the sea of Trojan maroon to see if her friend, Atossa, was anywhere nearby. A voice interrupted her concentration. “Sorry, I’m late,” it said. Ditzy looked at the voice, which came from a gentleman, short, about her own height, gray hair, maybe the age of her grandmother. “You must be Junko,” he said. Before she could deny the truth of the statement, the gentleman handed her an envelope. “$500 was the agreed amount,” he said. “Maybe we could start with lunch. The museum has a cafeteria.” Almost as a reflex action, Ditzy accepted the envelope. |
